Add your D-Art Memories to this site
This site is dedicated to those that had the dream and then worked hard to create a multi-use center for Dallas artists. The dreams became reality in 1981 when an old warehouse at 2917 was transformed into D-Art. There were obstacles along the way, dirt and grime to clear, walls to build, an army of volunteers, fundraising events and special "art angels" that gave continued support and funds.
D-Art (also known as Dallas Visual Art Center) remained at 2917 Swiss (the old remodeled warehouse) from 1981 - 2000. The D-Art legacy continues today in a new place (Dallas Contemporary) located in the Design District on Glass Street.
Let's share our memories and honor the original D-Art legacy. It was (and is) such an important part of Dallas Art history.
